A Picnic at the Springs
On Tuesday we took a bus ride down to the springs for class picnic! We couldn't go in the water, but we had a great time anyway! We started with some games: hiding behind the trees.. and frozen tag.. and then we had music!
Amelia's dad came and sang some crazy songs!
What a great day we had!

We Love Books!
We are standing in the middle of town, next to the Banyan tree.
We are lined up next to the bus waiting to go to the Banyan tree in the park. It is so huge and it's fat. It has lots of roots hanging down. We can swing on them.
It was fun when I was sitting on the bench reading Green Eggs and Ham.
I was reading a book near the Banyan tree. I was sitting on the great rock and I was reading some books. I was reading a dinosaur book and I have some more dinosaur books.

The Baby Bird
Sometimes Ossie finds baby animals and brings them to school. One day, he brought a long neck turtle to school. We took it to the Manor for them to take care of.
Today, he brought a baby bird.
Yerrin: We found a baby bird. Its wing was hurt in Numburwar.
Bailey: I found a baby bird and I called him Tweety. I put him in a cage.
Cameran: Georgia found a crow and we let it go because it had a broken wing. It couldn't fly.
Emily: A birdie was walking around by a banana tree. Me and Bailey caught it and put it in a Coke box.
Eva: When me and Bailey found one of these baby crows in an egg, it actually hatched. We made a nest and it actually hatched.
Helena: We found an eagle and he never walked. He had a broken leg. Danielle (the park ranger) came and got him. She catches crocs.
Jesse: I went to a chicken farm and there was thousands and thousands of chickens and I got to hold some. There was one different one that was black and yellow.
Laura: We had a bird and it died when a snake ate it.
Mako: I saw a bird, it was little and it was trying to fly. I grabbed it and teached it how to fly.
Ossie: I have a bird and he is a White Cockatoo and he tried to fly away. I tried to get it back but he died by snakes.
Camy: My mommy got that big eagle. He fly away.
SueAnne: They need water and food.
It is a good idea to leave nature in the wild. If you take it home, it might die.

Down at the Springs
We went to the Springs. We went for a walk. We rode on the bus. Ms. Jocelyn drove the bus. It was the first time we got to go for a ride on the bus.
We saw a lot of insects. We saw butterflies, dragonflies, caterpillars and ladybirds.
We saw some birds. There are black cockatoos, white cockatoos and owls.
We saw some creatures. We saw a turtle, a lizard, fish and some white fellahs swimming. They pretended they were crocodiles.
We walked on a path around the springs. We walked on a big bridge and some little ones.
I like to go there with my friends.
Down at the springs, it was beautiful!

Barramundi Feeding
In February, we went to feed the Barramundi at the Manor. It is across the road from the school.
Laura: We went to the Manor and we fed the Barra and I was scared and we had ice-cream.
Jesse: I didn't get to go and my friend didn't either.
Jesse and Yerrin: The man said they could feed the Barramundi . Then they had ice-cream.
SueAnne: In February at the Manor they went to feed the Barramundi. They watched. After that they ate ice-cream.
Helena: I liked it.
Mako: We fed the fish so they could stay alive. We wanted to feed the fish. They jumped up and then they grabbed the little fish.
Bailey: When we fed them, we used a rod. We put the little fishes on them. When we did that they jumped up and then went back in the water.
Eva's picture shows the big Barra fish from an underwater perspective. She has filled her whole paper with three fish, a crab and some bubbles. She used wax and pencil crayons.
Note: We began our year as a K/1 (Transition, Year One) class. The year two students only joined us in the second term (After Easter). Before that, they were in Ms. Marilyn's class.

Stamp Music
A couple of weeks ago we had some vistors at our school. They were a family of musicians and they worked with us on our own original song and music video.
We worked together on the music and the words to the song. We even made our own costumes during our morning 'Investigations'.
We love our Happy Song and thought you might enjoy watching us perform.
Here we all are in "A Happy Song"

Come Blog with us!
Our first entry!
My name is Ms. Jocelyn and I am a relatively remote School.
There are fourteen students in my classroom: from Transition (Kindergarten) through to grade two. We have different backgrounds, but for now we all live in a small town in the north/central part of Australia.
Our school has just two 'real' classrooms, but we also have a preschool, and a building where the big kids, year 7/8/9 students, do 'School of the Air' work. That means they meet with their teachers on the computer.
We love our school and have lots of fun.
Winter is over here and the weather is getting hotter: the opposite from you! We started our school year in January, and will finish for this year at Christmas time.
We would love to share our days with you: exchange pictures, games and stories.
